What Does "Trial" Mean?
It’s important to know that a test is just that – a moment to see what you like and what doesn’t, what works and what doesn’t. We will take photos so that we can analyze them on your wedding day and use the same colors we used at your trial.
Why Trials are so important?
A lot of thought and research goes into your wedding day. While trying to find the perfect venue, photographers, entertainment, and, of course, wedding gowns, you’re constantly researching, relying on recommendations, and stalking the social media accounts of wedding vendors. Selecting the right makeup artist should be no different.
- In fact, the trial, more importantly, is about you, and what you are after for your special day. But also, its an opportunity for you to meet your artist, to become familiar, so that on the day the whole process is less daunting for YOU!
- It’s also an opportunity to see what works well for your skin, hair, personality, outfit and the theme of the wedding.
- Trials give your stylist the opportunity to get to know your hair texture and pliability
- Trials help the stylist identify which hair and makeup products work best for a long-lasting look on your special day.
A trial run is more than just a practice run for hair and makeup. It is the perfect opportunity to get to know your artist’s personality and their skill level, and to determine if they are the right fit for you.
You want to be comfortable with them and make sure they are able to execute your desired style or makeup look.
As professionals, we will always try our absolute best to create your desired inspo however, realistically it is not always possible depending on the type of hair or skin type or facial features and shape.
A trial run is a good time to discuss your options and to try different looks that will work for you. It may be necessary to purchase hair extensions or other products ahead of time to achieve the desired results.
While most of our products are hypoallergenic, it is possible that you may be allergic to an ingredient in a cosmetic or hair product. Your wedding day is definitely not the day you want to discover new allergies.
A trial run gives you the opportunity to test out not only the final look, but also the products used.
- Wedding day schedules tend to be pretty tight, so knowing exactly what look is desired and how long it takes to perform can save a lot of valuable time.
- A trial run is also a great opportunity to discuss any details such as the number of people requiring our services, a timeline for the day, and recommendations from our professionals.
How much time should I allot?
- Consultation – 45 Mins – 1 Hour
- Hair – 1 hour
- Makeup – 1- 1.5 hour
- Hair and Makeup – 2.5 – 3 hours
What should I bring?
- Inspiration images of hair and makeup that you are considering for your look.
- Any hair accessories or a veil that you are considering wearing so your stylist can give ideas on how to incorporate them into your desired hairstyle.
Will my stylist make recommendations for styles?
- We always do our best to achieve your desired look based on the inspiration provided, keeping in mind that not all styles are easily executed or best suited for specific facial features or hair type
What should I wear?
- We suggest that you wear a button-down shirt that allows you to change your outfit without ruining your hair and makeup
When should I wash my hair?
- It is recommended that you wash your hair the night before your trial and blow dry your hair straight back with either a round or paddle brush. Please do not use any hair conditioners, serums, oils or spray after shampooing. Failure to communicate this service will result in a fee due at the time of trial.
Will I have the same stylist for my trial and my wedding?
- We try our hardest to schedule your trial with the same stylist that is booked for your wedding day services, however, we reserve on a first-book, first-serve basis, so scheduling is based on availability.
- It is important to reserve our services as early as possible as we may have many brides booking for the same dates.
When are trials offered?
- Monday through Friday, with the earliest appointment scheduled at 7:00 a.m. and the latest appointment at 2:00 p.m.
- Trials must be scheduled in advance to ensure availability.
What if I want to make changes after my trial?
- Trust us, you wouldn’t be the first bride to want to make a small tweak here and there. Just give us a call and we can make the necessary notes in your file and inform your stylist. 99% of the time, an additional trial is not needed.
Finally
Upon leaving your trial, we would advise you to try on your dress or something in a similar style or color.
Hair and makeup can change their appearance against different clothing colors. Please take a moment to examine your hair and makeup after your trial and if there are any changes that you would like us to notate.
Due to limited seating and COVID regulations, please do not bring friends and or family with you on the day of the trial..
